Hi and welcome to my virtual office!
I’m D.J. Burr. I work with individuals struggling with sex addiction, pornography addiction, and codependency.
I am a licensed mental health professional and certified clinical trauma professional with 13+ yrs experience. I have experience in community mental health and crisis intervention. I am a published author, speaker, and podcast host. I identify as a Black, gay cis-gender male.
Addiction is meant to make you feel less. It provides temporary numbing for lifelong pain. You feel trapped, depressed, angry, anxious, guilty, and afraid when you can't stop.
Recovering from compulsive behavior, though not easy, is possible and has been accomplished many times. But it does require a complete change in beliefs and attitude, along with how to deal with life and its problems. Getting out of your head and taking action is the next indicated step. Listen to your mind and body - it's time to stop treating yourself so badly. I can help you learn to help yourself. You can become your own best advocate.
In addition to individual counseling, I run online therapy groups: Men’s Sexual Addiction Recovery - Mondays, 6-8pm (PST).
I am licensed in Washington, Oregon, Virginia, Florida, and Georgia. I do not accept insurance, but I do provide monthly superbills (an itemized statement).
Before scheduling please check my Rates page and my professional disclosure. Learn more about my experience and how I work with individuals on my video page.
