Do you identify as a man in recovery? Do you think you might enjoy connecting with other men in recovery over a weekend? Even if you don't think you will "enjoy" the opportunity, I imagine you need the tools we will be learning on the trip - so join us!
Men In Recovery: Creating Healthy Relationships will educate men about how to build and sustain healthy relationships - with the self, partners, children, co-workers, etc. - while dedicating their lives to recovery. On this trip, you will learn how to identify and establish boundaries; increase effective communication strategies; root out codependent(maladaptive coping) patterns; acquire new coping tools; and create new, stronger relationships with other men on the path to recovery.
D.J. Burr, a licensed mental health therapist, behavioral addiction specialist, sex addiction and codependency expert, author/podcast host, and man in long-term recovery will facilitate this weekend of healing. D.J. has over seven years of lived experience as a sober addict. He has facilitated groups for more than ten decades and has provided thousands of hours of counseling as a psychotherapist to individuals and groups.
Check out Pilgrim Firs, our retreat destination. From their website: Pilgrim Firs includes 120 wooded acres, of which 40 have been developed with cabins, lodges, and outdoor recreation areas for guest use. It includes play and sports fields, a lake with canoeing and kayaking, and a floating dock for swimming. There are hiking trails, indoor and outdoor chapel/meditation spaces, two campfire areas, basketball and volleyball courts, and many secluded, quiet places. It is located 3 miles from the City of Port Orchard and about an hour and a half drive or relaxing ferry ride from downtown Seattle.
